Advertising industry groups and other interested parties have promulgated respected and widely-followed voluntary regulations and codes of practice, and many disputes are resolved through non-judicial self-regulatory resolution mechanisms. Although these voluntary regulations and codes of practice are not legally enforceable, they often set a higher bar than statutes and agency regulations.
